The Virtual Innovation Campus is an immersive platform reachable from any device. The Campus utilizes virtual reality technology to engage visitors in STEAM programs that intersect art + technology.

Visitors journey as avatars through a futuristic world of STEAM education, speaking in real time as students explore, innovate, and collaborate. The Campus houses virtual museum and education programs, innovation labs, events and exhibitions. Our most popular in-person programs, Gateway and Innovator, are now featured on the Virtual Campus.

Gateway Program

The Gateway Program on the GENESIS Innovation Campus provides 4th – 10th grade students with an immersive virtual “field trip” experience that integrates museum art + technology education. Students engage in solving real world problems based on the UN Global Goals by using design and critical thinking skills. The program concludes with students’ creation of a 3D prototype solution.

Innovator Program

Partnering with museums to create public exhibitions and events, student teams work with GENESIS educators to problem solve using VR, 3D modeling, and art + tech to create innovative experiences. Students work together as avatars, collaborating and conversing together in real time. Projects culminate in large scale exhibitions and events for community and public engagement.

Wende Museum X GENESIS Exhibition: “Nexus Soyez”

In partnership with the Wende Museum and the Culver City School District, students created a virtual exhibition called “Nexus Soyuz” which featured the sights and sounds of the Eastern Bloc coming alive in an exciting, interactive mixed reality environment. In creating the Nexus Soyuz exhibition, the cohort was challenged to design social spaces in response to facing isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MAF X GENESIS exhibition: 2020 holiday party

In partnership with the LA Metro Boys & Girls Clubs and LAUSD educators, GENESIS designed and distributed over 500 exclusive Holiday Home STEAM Kits to engage students in creative holiday activities.
Participants and their families attended a virtual Holiday Party hosted on the GENESIS Innovation Campus featuring an exhibition displaying their ornaments, along with a gallery featuring multiple world-renowned artists that inspired the creative components of the Holiday STEAM Kit.

Hirshhorn museum x GENESIS exhibition: “respect her crank”

GENESIS created an interactive virtual showcase for the Hirshhorn Museum’s Respect Her Crank! Series as well as mentored their ARTLAB+ teen cohort to build their own 3D rooms for the event.
Exhibition Highlights:
– 50 students participated in the summer program
– Working in teams, students designed 3 virtual/live social gathering spaces
– Over 500 people attended the final virtual showcase

HIRSHHORN MUSEUM X GENESIS EXHIBITION: “REP MY CITY!”

GENESIS united with the DC public schools Arts department to tell the story of D.C. through the eyes of students in a virtual reality public showcase.
The showcase was inspired by the designs created from a diverse group of high school students from the Hirshhorn Museum’s “Emerging artists” teen program.
Exhibition highlights:
– Exhibition features art, music and performing arts
– 118 schools
– 30,000 students
– All 8 wards of Washing D.C. represented
